Cast Iron Radiators Configuration

Cast Iron Radiator Connection Options

We have been manufacturing and assembling cast iron radiators for over a decade, and in that time have built tens of thousands to exacting standards.

1. Bottom Bottom Opposite End (BBOE) Configuration

BBOE - Bottom Bottom Opposite Ends

By default, all cast iron radiators assembled in the UK are configured as Bottom Bottom Opposite End (BBOE). This means the radiator valve and lockshield connections are located at the bottom of the radiator, but on opposite ends, as shown in the diagram below.

Please note that end caps have left-hand and right-hand threads and are not interchangeable. If your project requires a non-standard configuration, it is essential that you contact us before placing your order.

Unless otherwise specified, your radiator will be supplied in the standard BBOE configuration.

2. Top Bottom Same End (TBSE) Configuration

TBSE Top Bottom Same End

Top Bottom Same End (TBSE) is a configuration more commonly used in mainland Europe, where both the valve and lockshield are connected on the same end of the radiator—one at the top, one at the bottom.

If you require TBSE assembly, please contact us on 01723 321 000 prior to placing your order, as this setup requires specific end caps not included by default.

3. Top Bottom Opposite Ends (TBOE) Configuration

Top Bottom Opposite Ends

The third option is Top Bottom Opposite Ends (TBOE), where the flow and return are positioned diagonally across the radiator—one at the top on one end, and the other at the bottom on the opposite end.

If you would like your radiators supplied in the TBOE configuration, please ensure you contact us when ordering so we can provide the correct end caps for your setup.
